Release Date: August 5th, 2026
Overview
2026 marks the 250th anniversary of America’s founding with the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. But, if not for the inspiration of an influential pamphlet published earlier that year, Thomas Paine’s Common Sense, Thomas Jefferson’s words and the Continental Congress’s revolutionary act might never have occurred. Common Sense in the Age of Trump provides a vital and instructive update to Paine’s and Jefferson’s rejection of tyranny and the corrupt rule of kings.
Advance Praise
Congressman Jamie Raskin, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Unthinkable: Trauma, Truth, and the Trials of American Democracy, described this extraordinary book this way:
“The times, as Tom Paine wrote, have found us. All over the world, corruption and authoritarianism are running amok while freedom and democracy are under attack. The authors of this book ask us to stand with them to defend our country, our freedom and the rule of law. My wonderful friends in Lewes, Delaware are well served by Ron Collins, Senator Russ Huxtable, Mayor Amy Marasco and Paul Sparrow, as well as my beloved colleague in the U.S. House, Representative Sarah McBride, who have contributed to make this remarkable and urgent book possible. Common Sense in the Age of Trump is the handbook that we need. None of us will ever be Founding Fathers in the 18th Century, but they show us we can all be founding fighters in the 21st.”
