AdvancedMD Gives Independent Medical Practices New AI Clinical Assistant Capabilities, Automated Secondary and Tertiary Insurance Verification, and More

AdvancedMD, a provider of cloud-based healthcare software for independent medical practices, today announced the launch of its 2026 Summer Product Release, with new features added to each component of the unified EHR, practice management, and patient engagement platform. From automated eligibility checks for secondary and tertiary insurance to multiple new AI Clinical Assistant features, the latest product release helps independent providers practice their way and speed up their day—driving productivity across daily workflows.

After officially launching the AI Clinical Assistant earlier this year, AdvancedMD has rolled out the AI Clinical Assistant for Mobile, giving providers and their teams access to AI-assisted pre-visit summaries, ambient listening and transcription, and action items—all from their mobile devices. Same as the desktop version of the AI Clinical Assistant, users are able to control what they record and what is added to the patient chart.

According to the Medical Group Management Association’s March 2026 physician survey, 80% of providers are now using AI within a professional context. The survey also revealed 70% of physicians anticipate AI will help automate administrative duties to help reduce burnout.

“Our latest product update is a powerful reflection of just how committed we are to helping independent providers eliminate everyday friction and move care forward. The new AI Clinical Assistant for Mobile not only can save time, but can also deliver an added level of convenience and flexibility,” said AdvancedMD CEO Amanda Sharp. “We build smart solutions to help providers increase efficiency and scale their practices.”

In addition to the AI Clinical Assistant for Mobile, AdvancedMD is releasing:

EHR

  • AI Clinical Assistant: Note Field Suggestions from Visit Transcript Action Item:

After the AI Clinical Assistant processes the visit transcript, the Note action item displays suggested values for patient note fields such as chief complaint, history of present illness, SOAP notes, diagnosis, and more. Providers and their staff can review the AI-generated suggestions from the visit transcript and insert them into patient note fields, reducing manual and redundant data entry.

  • AI Clinical Assistant: Five Additional Action Items:

The AI Clinical Assistant has been enhanced to include new action items: medications, allergies, referrals, risk factors, and patient education. AI Clinical Assistant can analyze patient visit transcripts and generate suggested action items for the patient’s chart, which can reduce manual data entry tasks during or after each visit.

Practice Management

  • Eligibility Checks Verify Secondary and Tertiary Insurance (Change Healthcare):

Providers and their staff can verify secondary and tertiary insurance when batching eligibility checks through Change Healthcare. Results are displayed on the eligibility details screen and on the patient insurance card.

  • Fees Schedules by Locality:

Practices can now specify charge and allowable amounts based on a combination of locality, facility, and carrier with the newly added locality settings that allow users to associate a geographic area with a facility or facility-carrier ID. When that facility or facility-carrier combination is used—and the fee schedule is set to use localities—the specified fee is used instead of the standard fee. Fee schedules can also be imported with locality data.

  • Group Appointments: Group-Level Coding, Auto-Generate and Sign Charge Slips:

For high-volume group therapy practices, CPT and ICD-10 codes can now be assigned once at the group-session level and then, upon review and approval by the appropriate user be applied to every patient in the session. In coming weeks, the AdvancedMD EHR will automate charge slip generation for each patient once coding is complete and group notes are finalized. (This automation will be available July 9.)

Patient Engagement

  • Request to Skip Copay During Pre-Call Workflow for Telehealth Visit:

Offices requiring telehealth copays can now allow patients to skip copay payments for individual telehealth visits. By enabling the “Allow Payment Bypass by Provider Approval” system setting, patients can request to skip their copay during the pre-call workflow. Front-office staff can then approve or deny the request in Provider List View before the patient session begins.

The 2026 Summer Product Release updates will be rolled out on a tiered schedule starting June 9. The complete list of the newly added features can be viewed on the AdvancedMD website at: 2026 Product Release.

AdvancedMD has also released a training webinar overviewing the latest updates that can be viewed at: 2026 Summer Product Release Training Webinar.
